Pros

- Relaxed, fun-loving culture and atmosphere. - A tight-knit team. - High quality production standards for most things, especially photography. - An attractive business model -> growing client base. - A good place for learning and personal growth. - Friendly and understanding management. - Cutting-edge tools/equipment at your disposal. - Everyone is pretty cool.

Cons

These may no longer hold true, as the company was still experiencing growing pains when I left: - Mediocre pay compared to the industry. - A lack of established practices; naivety. - Team is too small for the amount of work clients demand: the sales team is too good for production teams to keep up with, which leads to sub-optimal products rushed to completion. - Some sketchy clients (naturopaths, chiropractors, frauds and charlatans). - Haphazard web development and feature-sparse websites. Squarespace for 99% of them. - With so many clients and such a short time to market, rarely was there a sense of ownership or pride in our final product. This leads to general apathy. - High rate of employee turnover (My friends all left). - Everyone is pretty cool(tm). Ultimately, an ad firm is an ad firm.

Pros

• Everyone is genuinely cool and easy to get along with. • Plenty of free food and snacks. • They put forth an honest effort to make the office fun from time to time. • Good starter job getting your foot in the door of the industry.

Cons

• Production Staff is overworked. • No room to grow. No opportunities for promotions. High turnover rate. • All the males in leadership positions do is have meetings and talk about what they could be doing different, but they barely execute on anything. • If you're a woman, you have no say in anything. Just keep your head down and smile when they ask you something. • Quantity over quality. They value "OK" and "done right now" over "great" and realistic turn around times. • They heavily rely on free student labor. • Sales team has no discernment on the types of clientele they bring in. If they could get a corpse to sign on the dotted line, they would. They are pressured to sell, sell, sell. Often times with little to no information included with the new client. Creates problems down the line for the production staff. • Criminally underpaid. If you agree to a salary, they withhold a couple grand and present it back to you in increments once every six months as "bonuses". Your hourly rate will not reflect the original salary you agreed to.
