Pros

The Benefits were awesome, and cheap. Flexible work schedules to accommodate special situations, like work from home, or 4 day work week.

Cons

They were quick to reprimand when you screwed up, but not so quick to celebrate success when you went above and beyond. Eventually, my conscience caught up with me as it is hard to decide that a 3 year old can't have a life saving procedure because it isn't covered.

Pros

Good benefits and compensation package. Growth opportunities are there for those who pursue them, rather than expect to have them handed to them. Very fair time off policies allow for work / life balance. When you go the extra mile, spend long hours, you are fairly compensated with flexible schedules, comp time etc. Nice work at home abilities for those who can, even if only from time to time. Education in applicable technical disciplines as well as the business we are in as a whole is stressed. Efforts are made to help employees understand how what they do affects the business as well as the customers. The company has provided me with a great career for many years....... You get out of it what you put into it!

Cons

Company has "lost" the old time feeling of "loyalty to the employees" that used to exist in the old Blue Cross of Western PA days. I guess this is to be expected. As the company has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 2 decades it has become more "gray & faceless" to the employees. Employee contributions for benefits keeps getting higher and higher, as merrit raises keep getting lower and lower.... The benefits cost increase usually consumes your merrit raise.
