Pros

Worked with some nice people, Hilton employee perks (that would have been great if you ever actually were allowed to take time off), great 401k package and full benefits.

Cons

terrible hours, compensation, time-off policies, having less respect and benefits than the employees you are managing (unionized), lack of control, lack of opportunities to move up. The hours (between 10-12 a day, and 5-6 days a week) sometimes ran into each other, where you would be working 3pm–2am, take a nap at the hotel, then open the restaurants at 6am and work until 3pm again. No consideration given in either compensation or future requests for time off.

Pros

Flexibility in hours, Hotel discounts, work from home, Dallas Reservations.

Cons

Not motivating at all, all you hear is what your doing wrong every time you hear from supervisor or "DC", monthly bonus is almost impossible and depends on luck of the calls not your actions. I lost my job due to being sick and running out of emergency time. The dc was out to get rid of me and found a loop of 3 write ups/yr. I had one month out of 56 that I did not meet the 95% attendance and lost my job.

Pros

Empowerment to do what's best for the hotel, autonomy when you are at a trusted level. Worked for Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites and Hilton Hotels. It really depends on the management company, as most hotels are franchised. The travel perks are amazing with employee rooms as little as $29. Great opportunities to try out multiple facets to see what suits you best: Front Desk, Restaurant, Sales, Catering, Operations, Administration, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Concierge, Valet and Bell Staff. Great for lateral and vertical movement.

Cons

Depends on the hotel's management. If the place is organized, then it's amazing. If the GM and leaders in the hotel aren't organized, if they disagree, etc., then your experience will not be as great. Goes the same for any company. In leadership roles, you are expected to work much longer hours and will wear all hats in the hotel, qualified or not. Hotel employees, as in all hospitality, are notoriously underpaid for the amount of hours, stress and work they put in.
