Pros

The one thing that HC has managed to do right (most of the time) is hire people who are fun to work with. I still enjoy spending time with my former co-workers very much. A few years ago HC was a great place to work and I gladly recommended it to my network. The camaraderie and breadth of projects made this firm look like it was going somewhere.

Cons

The pay is atrocious and downright offensive to any professional. The truth is so many people jump ship to make 30-40% more. The benefits, while not as ugly, are still sub par to other firms. Technical people often find themselves in the black hole of a maintenance project or staffed on a technical project that doesn't align with their skillset. Functional people settle for QA roles or get pidgeon holed into positions that don't differ too much from administrative assistant to clients. Seriously, this is suppose to be an top tier aspiring firm? The days of interesting projects, career growth, and skill development ended about 2 years ago.

Pros

Good Benefits, good colleagues, and great individual contributors.

Cons

Lack of Vision and Strategy from Senior Leadership. Add to this the incompetence of middle management to execute on the poorly laid out strategy. Management is always in a "vacation" mode and their is no drive to succeed or lead the company to success. They lay low, do not communicate, do not appreciate ideas, provide no feedback, and are just feeding off of the parent Hitachi company. Answer to almost any big decision is mergers and acquisitions or some form of divestment (which are poorly executed as well). They will either fire you or make your job difficult and boring so you quit. Serious lack of feedback taken during exit, shows they do not care about employees or the company's future. All in all, the company is operating in a rut, waiting to just die out (making money only for the management in the process). If you wish to have decent, fun, exciting career, do not look here.

Pros

This was a great company and some solid people are still there

Cons

The path forward to growth for Vantara is unclear. I wouldn't recommend joining a company that is shrinking via quarterly layoffs. Leadership has flipped a few times over the past few years and there is no clear strategy. It only makes sense for Hitachi LTD to acquire a larger entity and merge or sell Vantara off. Either way, I wouldn't want to be at Vantara now or going forward.
