Pretty decent company until YRC came into the picture

Pros

Solid, experienced, level headed management at most levels. Decent or better than average pay & similar benefits. Professional atmosphere working with adults that know their jobs. ALL of this was true in 2005 when I started.

Cons

Atmosphere went downhill long before I left, very bitter & negative. Everyone knew they'd been lied to & felt shorted due to substantial "givebacks" to YRC: 15% of our pay and Teamsters took a massive hit on pensions.

Pros

5 day work week. Free Benefits.

Cons

The company does not care about it's employees. You are just a number. Surprise! Suprise! All this company cares about is getting the load to point A to point B. It doesn't matter how bad the road conditions are. The worst equipment in the industry. Dispatchers are a joke. They have no clue what they are doing. I don't think they have one dispatcher who is in their 30's with simple common sense. Stay away!! The company will probably be closing the doors soon enough. You only get 1 week vacation after one year of service.

Pros

Mon-Friday schedule. Great health care. $400 family deductible.

Cons

20% underpaid in our area. Old equipment, 70% of all trucks have well over 1 million miles and are very dirty on the inside. We need 15 new forklifts Not "1 that's on the way". Our dock is 1/2 the size it needs to be. The size of the dock kills productivity, probably adds an extra 20% of time per night.
