Pros

Stable company in profitable niche, managed by true businessmen, Captured identified prospects. Strong back office, excellent techs.

Cons

Everything is a metric, and the salespeople are treated as soldiers. There is no joy, no flexibility on how you prospect, and manage your territory. You are on an hourly ($9) rate, not salary. Commissions are microscopic $20. (5% of gross yearly billing which averages $400). No contests. No spiffs. You have one single product to sell, no leaway on pricing, even in wintertime. Seasonal business - demand is strong Apr - Aug, but barely enough for one rep otherwise. You are expected to door knock 600 homes per month, including vacant and under construction homes, for up to 18 months, send flyers, and also call. Mandatory two Sat per month. "Route completion" for salespeople. SMH. Branch manager and service manager turnover is high, few months go by without an "opening" somewhere in the company. Looking at sales spreadsheet most salespeople in the company make less than 25K per year.

Pros

The best pros are industry standards. Take home privileges with your work truck, health insurance, retirement plan, and so on. There really isn't anything that sets them apart or makes them better than other industry leaders in this group. It's typically the same work, done with the same products, and around the same pay.

Cons

In honesty, the list is rather long. The first would the Taexx System. On paper, it's a phenomenal idea that allows you to give the same quality of service as an interior treatment without ever having to step foot inside of a home. In practice, however, I routinely encountered systems that simply weren't functioning. If I can't get the product where it needs to go, then I'm not doing what needs to be done to have a complete treatment, and I'm lying to the customer and taking their money. Now, I know every branch is different. Different managers have differing managing styles, and different employees have different attitudes. What I encountered was on the bottom end. Poor communication between CSR's, technicians, and management was the norm. This often lead to missed appointments, two technicians showing up for an appointment, and numerous other frustrating scenarios. The training was sub-par for technicians just entering in the industry. It wasn't as comprehensive as necessary and left new hires with just enough information to be dangerous, but not enough to be helpful. If you plan on working for HomeTeam, I seriously recommend taking it upon yourself to grow in your knowledge so that you can better service your accounts, cut down on call backs, and increase your profits. The routes were often too full. In order to stay on track, it would be common for a technician to need to complete 18 paid production stops a day. Not including drive time, new starts, or call backs. That equals over 14 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Any route designed in such a manner is a route that was designed to fail and fall behind from the start. I really can't go any further without delving into critiques against individuals working in the branch, which wouldn't be fair. I will say, the service given to customers is not in line with the price paid. One could easily receive an equal or better service from a smaller pest company for just over half the price. Support your local guy, instead of being sold by the major corporation.
