Pros

You can move up within the store management team with hard work and effort. All regular hourly employees are unionized so they have representation. As a store manager, you work a day schedule 7am-6pm 5 days per week. So, you are not working most evenings. There are annual bonuses in March depending on your store's performance for Store managers and you also have 2 weeks vacation every year.

Cons

Once you are salary (Store Mgr & Asst Store Mgr), they want to squeeze every minute out of you. You have very limited hours for employees so it is hard to get required tasks done without working extra. There is an expectation that you are always available to be at the store on your days off (Store Mgrs). Your days off are split so you only get one at a time if you get to take it. It is exhausting and your family time will suffer. Also, managers get no holidays or sick days. It seems a lot of pressure is put upon managers to perform without much time off or compensation for excelling. Also, depending on where you are located, you could find yourself under a very difficult district manager who loves to lose his temper a lot.

Pros

The pharmacy staff in store are great people! Everyone pulled together to get the work done.

Cons

This company is in financial distress. Corporate will just come in and fire people or eliminate positions without any warning. We’re not allowing to carry much stock so we have to order most prescriptions for the next day. That makes patients angry. Corporate says they don’t want hear about it.
