Pros

- The culture is amazing for high/top performers. The company values are extremely clear - and modeled by CEO, leadership, and everyone around you. - Product Led company - if you're a Product Manger, Data Scientist, or Engineer - you get a lot of say in where the product goes - Insane autonomy. There's no elusive "business" that tells you what you need to build. The Single-threaded own model works really well here. Each vertical manages their own business with clear metrics that are obsessively measured. - Path to promotions and career growth is clear. You obsess about the customer, identify a problem and quickly find ways to test out ideas, and see if you can create value for the company. If you do this - you get promoted. Everyone is encouraged to write up ideas and lobby teams to work on them. - WFH is great. Company does a great job writing things down - so there's never a time where "decisions got made in HQ without you". - The team is made up of amazing, smart, humble, and results obsessed people. No egos. - The company is working on diversity & inclusion (which is great!), especially on hiring practices. But if you look around and see who's getting promoted and who's leading - it's one of the most gender diverse teams. - With travel rebounding post-covid Hopper is incredibly well positioned due to its fintech plays and competitive pricing in travel.

Cons

- If a social work environment, or a "work family" with lots of happy hours and foosball tournaments is important to you, this might not be the place. The people are brilliant and kind - but results matter more than anything else. Esp, with the company leaning in to support "remote work" - You will have to work hard. The company's at a critical time and has just completed its series F and acquired a strategic B2B partner. It's not a 9 to 5 gig. If you're willing to do this - you'll see the rewards of your work much faster than any other company. - You're responsible for your career path and growth. Unlike larger companies that have extensive feedback, coaching review processes - at Hopper you have to seek this out.

Pros

Remote work, unlimited PTO with management that respected PTO requests. Pay is excellent.

Cons

Layoffs tend to happen a lot randomly and without warning. The company structure is disorganized and you will be moved to a new team or laid off with little to no warning. Reorgs are a very common occurrence, which means you won't be able to know how long your team will be around. The code base is highly disorganized and a lot of internal tooling can be improved. The corporate culture can get very political the higher up you go.

Pros

- Extremely smart, incredibly ambitious people across all teams and disciplines. - The most entrepreneurial group of people you'll ever work with. A dozen or more leaders with founder experience working on what are effectively their own businesses. If you want to start a company one day, this is the place for you to learn in a hands-on way how to build. - Massive $1T+ leisure travel market and easy to imagine going into other massive markets. You will never get bored if you like solving hard problems. - Very strong data culture. Almost every conversation and meeting we're showing, manipulating, and/or referencing data. This leads to a lot of real-time, fast, collaborative, fun problem-solving and decision-making. - Very fast-paced. Working cycles are short. We value speed above many other things, and this is sometimes uncomfortable but frequently leads to tremendous results. - Great pay, great benefits. - Utmost working flexibility (e.g. time of day, location, etc.). - Not surprisingly, the people you work with love to travel. People take real vacations and travel frequently. - Strong culture that management has put countless hours and tremendous thought into. Very deliberate about this from hiring to onboarding to promoting, etc.

Cons

- While collaboration is strong within teams, it is not strong (or valued in many cases) across teams. Our single-threaded ownership model actively prevents collaboration in many cases to optimize for adding value to customers as quickly as possible. - With tremendous flexibility and great pay comes great expectations. You will be expected to be the best of the best at what you are hired for. - With great ambition comes great pressure. If you don't like pressure or hard work, Hopper isn't for you.
