Not what it once was!

Pros

Great benefits, fun industry to work in, and lots of opportunities for travel

Cons

Management is mostly clueless. Lot of consultant types who have moved up quickly, but lack the experience needed for their roles. Culture of the company has shifted dramatically in the few years I’ve been around - not in a good way.

Nice environment, low ceiling

Pros

Good office environment, emphasis on enabling work-life balance and vacation/travel, competitive pay

Cons

Main office is in London, which means lots of remote management and little visibility by most senior management. It's difficult to advance your career, especially below senior manager level, without that visibility -- unless you want to move to London. Minimal investment in training or skills-building. Bills itself as a "tech" company but as you can see from website, it is a generation behind due to under-investment in product side -- not on par with top-tier tech or ecommerce companies, only competitive because other travel companies are even less invested.

Poor Direction, Leadership and Strategy

Pros

There are really good people trying to do good work at the staff level

Cons

The leadership in Dallas penalizes people that don't fit into a certain mold and have people operating on pins and needles. Leadership is belittling. They tend to promote and embrace consultants at the expense of talent coming from other disciplines. There are very few internal opportunities to advance without moving to Expedia in Bellevue or Hotels.com HQ in London. Lastly, there is no strategy for addressing the growth of Booking.com, especially in Canada.
