Pros

You get a working Mac computer while employed with Housecall Pro and if you need it they will provide a standing desk and chair.

Cons

I thought HCP was going to be an amazing fit for me. I learned fast and my work reflected stats of 100% customer satisfaction. I was given many extra projects and responsibility and handled them with grace and proficiency. I was offered a better position with better pay within the company and I accepted and moved teams. The manager of that team was over-worked and burnt out. This caused her to be absent from helping out the team, and when you had issues you weren't met with help but with bullying and insults. I reached out to upper management and HR about changing teams but they wouldn't let me until I had been in the current position for 6 months. I continued gaining great stats and helping out my team members until I needed to take a Leave Of Absence for medical concerns. I got the time approved through HR, my managers, and through the companies health insurance provider. I was approved for a month of medical leave with pay. The day I came back from medical leave a meeting with HR was scheduled to inform me of my termination. I was shocked, I just came back from medical leave, and before that my work performance was 100%. When I asked the reason for letting me go, I was told " We have the right not to disclose why". I tried to press further to get information because it seemed not only unfair to me, but to my short-handed team. They would not give me a why I was being let go and then I was locked out of the systems and blocked from communication with the company and their staff. It get's better, when I applied for unemployment I was denied because HCP claimed I skipped out on work days consecutively in a row, without contacting anyone. This was an absolute untruth and I have all my hours documented and recorded including my time off, sick days, and the leave of absence. I tried to fight it and sent in an appeal but I am awaiting a court date. Overall this experience with Housecall Pro was heartbreaking. They entice you in with the idea that this is a family and we all take care of one another, but in all honesty most are over-worked and not recognized. I was also shocked when that no action was taken when I informed HR and upper management of my managers bullying. The only action that was taken was informing the manager that I had said something, which made her attack me more and ultimately get me unfairly fired. I think a lot of what they did to me wasn't fully legal.

From our People team, given the topic: We are continually working to improve and create a culture of transparency and a safe space for feedback. Some processes we have implemented include regular 1:1s with managers, career success conversations, open doors to leadership and executives, and company surveys. Our managers experience manager training which reinforces expectations and processes for giving and receiving feedback. Our People Team supports employees with individual concerns, needs such as leaves of absence and strives to provide clear communication on what to expect upon return from a leave. Our company operates at a quick pace with frequent iterations to continuously improve; this sometimes means learning new processes and changes to team structure and functions. Your feedback is helpful in understanding where we can improve feedback on our teams and through the leave of absence process.

People stay and thrive at companies for different reasons - for you, you clearly value compensation above all else and you think that is the scale by which companies should be weighed and reviewed. Others would argue, and many have if you look at our Glassdoor reviews, that mission, the product you create and the customer you serve, the quality of the teams and the people around you, the culture are why they stay. HCP has a remarkable retention mark given how competitive the software hiring landscape is in the US. Not to mention that the hiring sands are shifting to some degree now as the black hole of the FANG companies and their voracious appetite to hire ebbs. Quite simply, Facebook, Google and Netflix, let alone the entire Web3 world, are on their heels and either in hiring freezes or laying people off. The value of being in an exceptional growth business like HCP, with a culture and customer that lights people up and competitive compensation models in place, may shine even more.
