Pros

Weekly paycheck. There's opportunity for overtime. If you're related, sleeping with or good friends with someone who has a management position then you will move up fast and get regular pay increases.

Cons

Rarely promotes people based on experience, education or willingness to learn. Upper management lacks transportation knowledge. The union lacks knowledge. Very disrespectful and mean people. Management isn't taught how to manage. Extremely low morale especially on the rail line. Pay structure is not fair for union employees versus non union. Ex. People who check the fares of boarding passengers make $2.50 more than the people who operate the trains. Management has a superiority complex. This company has managed to turn what is viewed by the rest of the country as good careers into mediocre low paying jobs.

Disappointing experience

Pros

Decent salary Will pay for relocation

Cons

Executive leadership ensure changes are a daily occurrence. The fluidity make it impossible to stay ahead of the curve. Constant reorganization of departments and ever shifting staff keep things in a state of chaos. Leadership is foolishly allowing problem employees to flourish which only contaminates the rest.. Operations is a laughable mess of daily memos. Poorly structured policy system. Operators and dispatchers with terrible attitudes and worse customer service skills talk on an open mic radio which allows the public to hear how low the standards of conduct truly are. Those who come from other organizations are often appalled by the culture within short order and quickly move on to something else.
