Pros

For the most part, METRO attracts employees who are motivated to provide service for the greater good of the community. METRO is a non profit entitty and the salaries reflect that. Long tenure is the norm.

Cons

Aging workforce results in fewer opportunities to retain and promote younger workers. Very Political. Constant change in management everytime a new Mayor is elected. Special interests of political entities often determine METRO's direction.

Pros

Wonderful environment and benefits, the freedom to do your job and the support of a team dedicated to success; extra-curricular programs, opportunities for professional development and providing a public service that is so desperately needed by the population

Cons

Promotion not always based on merit; some tenured positions held by staff who are either burnt out or completely mis-utilized; governance for the agency is not answerable to the agency - they're all on the puppet strings of the entities that appointed them - so they often don't have METRO's best interests at heart.

Pros

Come in and go out, no one will ask you, even if they do you went to see a customer. Do you work or no, will get paid. Heaven for folks over 45 and laid back people.

Cons

Lets see if I can put in all the cons, Completely unfair environment, managers became manager because they know who to do politics not because of their exp or job skills. Complete waste of money by the managers on vendors, projects that are not required. Someone working hard will never grow because that employee is needed at that position since no else is doing their job. Unfair salaries and promotion only to friends. No communication between the employees and management plans.
