Pros

HubSpot is an incredible company and I am still excited to come into work every day several years into my tenure. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better tech company in the area, especially as an engineer. Business wise, stock and metrics continue to improve. Growth is difficult to sustain and not easy, but I'm bullish that we will continue to find ways. The company is not perfect, but the best thing about the culture is that it is willing to admit faults and improve where things are not great. * increased investment and revamping of training and leadership * always introspective, refining, improving processes and culture * transparency of operations and business from top down * growing, lots of hiring, opportunities to move up * great office, perks (coffee garden, tea, barista, ping pong, beer, snacks) * strong, trusted leadership * smart coworkers * flexibility in time * overall a fun environment to work in, great social events * autonomy, power to have impact

Cons

Naturally as the company has grown, the only constant has been change - which is fine. But HubSpot, like most growing startups/scaleups is not great at change management. There is good transparency, but that does not necessarily equate to good communication. There is thrash at times because the org structure does not support the goals that leadership sets for the company (which seem directionally correct, but execution is lacking). The company is very young and lacks diversity in many areas (race, women in leadership, etc), though there is a genuine effort to improve here.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review--I think your push on autonomy is a good way, and I agree we likely need a bit more guardrails and clarity for folks on the front line. We are working really hard to move the needle on both diversity and inclusion, but still work to be done as you said. Lastly, I love that you called out our introspective nature as a company--we are always trying to grow, iterate, and improve, and I'm glad to hear that shines through in your experience. Thanks for helping HubSpot grow. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

People. I know it might sound cliché, but people is HubSpot's secret. It's not only that. Culture, Opportunities, Transparency, Flexibility. The list goes on and on and on and on. At HubSpot I learned that you can have life/work balance. I learned that life happens people will stop, listen and help. The environment is perfect for you to grow as a person and professional. Bottom line, for anyone reading this, if you have the chance to work at HubSpot, go for it and fully embrace the opportunity, it will probably be the best experience in your life, it will forever change your perception of work and people (for the best). HubSpot made me a better person and a much much much better professional. Kudos to all People Operation, you are doing a fantastic job on creating and maintaining a great work environment.

Cons

There's still small cultural subsets here and there that doesn't quite fit the company culture. Those subsets become more visible when there're parties and alcohol involved which always makes a lot of room for misunderstanding/misinterpretation.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, lots of good stuff in here, and thanks for calling out our People Ops team, I'm very grateful to work on such a great team, and it means the world to me that you notice their hard work. I think you have some great input for us to think about, specifically around shaping communications on controversial topics and on subcultures as it relates to events outside of work--if you want to chat more about either would love to hear the feedback, but in the meantime, thanks for your rave review--we're delighted you're here and that HubSpot has had a profound impact on your life. It has on mine too, and it's part of the reason I love working here so much each day. Thank you for all you do! -Katie
