Culture is gone

Pros

Good medical insurance and remote work

Cons

I don't even recognize the company anymore. The culture that attracted so many of us to the company in the first place is completely gone, replaced with nothing but the standard blueprint of every other corporate wasteland. If you're interviewing here, be forewarned. Many of the positive reviews are from years past where we actually cared about work life balance, had unlimited PTO, competitive salaries, autonomy, and a focus on culture. Our senior leadership switched and that's all gone now.

I appreciate your feedback and acknowledge that HubSpot, like any other scaling company, has and will continue to evolve and change. What worked for a small company where everyone came into the office, does not work for the needs of a globally distributed flexible workforce serving the needs of our growing customer base. Regarding our recent shift to Flexible PTO, this change was made to provide more clarity, fairness, and predictability around time off. While unlimited PTO offers autonomy, it creates uncertainty and inconsistency. This adjustment ensures everyone can take time off with confidence allowing HubSpot to maintain operational balance and deliver for our customers. Our goal is a sustainable and equitable approach to time off that benefits both our employees and our customers. - The People Team

Pros

Comp is decent. Existing benefits they haven't killed yet like unlimited PTO and remote work are nice.

Cons

Take everything you heard and read about HubSpot in the past and throw it out. They once had a reputation for being an amazing place to work with lower end compensation. They've turned that on its head. They bumped the compensation and decided to actively waste time and effort witch hunting engineers for low productivity using naive, poorly thought out metrics that were never communicated as expectations. Any company focused on success would communicate new expectations, gather feedback and refine. HubSpot likes to change expectations every quarter, not communicate and then retroactively punish employees who recently got positive feedback for supporting the efforts they were requested to assist. It gives employees whiplash and has robbed them of all psychological safety.
