Pros

- travel perks allow you to keep all the miles and points earned for yourself - unlimited PTO - growth opportunities - smart people

Cons

- very hierarchical. Directors and managers don't talk to you. Analysts report to associates and associates will say you may be performing fine to you, then throw you under the bus when anything goes wrong and blame you to managers/directors. Upper management believe them since they don't have any exposure to your work since it is shielded by a middle man (associate) who may twist the story. - horrible hours - low pay per industry standard - they say promotions are based on merit, but really it's luck of the draw. Have to be on the right project with the right opportunities at the right time - there are several young people in the company who are not quite mature enough to have the soft skills required to manage people fairly or adeptly.

Pros

1. The company goes out of its way to make the job as fun as possible. They consistently organize small events for your project to make the time away from home pass by more quickly. 2. The vast majority of the company is made up of honest, intelligent, and hardworking individuals. Huron has a few jerks just like any other corporate consulting company, but overall everyone is pretty cool.

Cons

1. The market wage for consultants at Huron is slightly below the market wage for consultants at other firms. After four years at Huron, I was making $75k annually, plus bonus, which ranged from anywhere between $2k and $10k. 2. The work can get repetitive after a few years 3. I often felt like Huron was developing me into a strong Huron employee, not a strong consultant and/or leader in general. Granted, they are not responsible for overall personal and professional development, but as a young person I wanted more so that I would be better prepared for my next career.

Pros

Base pay is competitive and fair. Company funded parties are great (1990's WorldCom style)! A lot of motivated young people with solid academic accomplishment.

Cons

A very negative culture, and significant lack of integrity and leadership at the Managing Director level. I was shocked and appalled by the arrogance and crude behavior of some of the MD's. They manage the practice like a fraternity. Moreover, I was surprised by their overall lack of professional accomplishment and technical skill. There is little or no structure and transparency in the management of the consulting practices. There is no formula for bonuses (it's 100% discretionary) and a mostly undefined performance review process. The consulting assignments in the Higher Ed practice are insignificant and unfulfilling.
