Pros

The benefits here are great. 401K and profit sharing are among the best in the area. My co workers are awesome. There is a lot of growth potential in your current role. There are so many thing to do that it offers for employees to try working on projects they have never been on before or done before.

Cons

There is a lot going on and it seems to be continuing theme. Things will never get to a manageable work level. We need to really look at what are the things we need to get great at and focus on that. We seem to be looking at too many things to do too quickly. There seems to be the issue if something is brought to management it has to be addressed and taken care of right away without always gathering all the information to justify the conclusion.

Pros

7% 401k Match, 5 weeks PTO

Cons

Let me start by saying I have no idea how IAT is able to get ranked Best Place To Work. The IT leadership is an absolute joke. With each passing day the business gets worse and worse. There is 0 communication, 0 collaboration, 0 vision and very poor execution. Morale on the IT side of the house is down in the dumps and 2021 will be a year of quite a few departures. The "new" leadership has a "fake it till you make it" mentality and interestingly a few of the leaders have all come over from the same previous employers. The recently acquired Surety side of the business is treated like an outside company not a division within the "same family". During last year's "Best Place to Work Survey" the infrastructure team scored so low on the results that the "leaders" had an all on deck call to question the group on the spot as to what the issues were. Not surprisingly there were 0 responses. The solution was to provide an anonymous feedback form which had none of the results shared with the team. Amazing how "leaders" care so much about criticism and feedback just so long as it isn't directed towards themselves. It feels a bit like groundhog day, but these "leaders" are likely very clueless and can't see the problem. Bad quality tends to gravitate and coalesce around bad quality. When you don't truly know what "right" looks like than naturally nothing ever looks "wrong". So sad how some people are able to go entire careers and succeed in life.

I am sorry to hear that your experience at IAT is disappointing, but I must point out that we provide multiple opportunities for employees to share feedback, including anonymous feedback. Open communication and trust are foundational to our strong culture. We work systematically to create an environment where feedback is encouraged, appreciated, and acted on. As you mention, we conduct an annual survey where each employee provides anonymous feedback. Our ratings on this survey have improved each of the last three years since we started it, including on a micro-level within both the IT and the IT Infrastructure groups, respectively. But we don’t stop there. We also provide ongoing and diverse opportunities for employees to provide feedback, including an anonymous suggestion/feedback box for the IT department exclusively which is reviewed weekly by myself and our department leadership. As you know, employees are also invited to submit anonymous questions for our quarterly All Employee Webcasts where our CEO addresses these questions for the entire organization. We also have regular small group meetings and one-on-one meetings where constructive criticism, input, and feedback are addressed routinely. We review feedback from employees at the highest levels of the organization to determine where issues may be, how to address them, and what actions to take. I hope you take advantage of these channels. Sincerely, Chris Dowler CIO
