Pros

Low turnover rate -> a lot of time to form friendships. Prestigious company with a lot of influence over the world.

Cons

Much of the cutting edge technology has been moved to Kyndryl. Employees are encouraged to work on additional projects and technology so that the company can take advantage of your intellectual property while the only thing you receive in return is a pat on the back. Much of the internal infrastructure is based on antiquated strategies and teams suffer from poor management. Compensation is below average.

Pros

For those people that fit IBM is a great company. You often find yourself working on projects that don’t make a lot of sense or won’t have a lot of impact. If you give me satisfied being part of a larger team, getting something done, it can be a great job.

Cons

Although they talk about original thought they don’t want much of that if you’re not part of research. Particularly in sales where it’s about closing deals not about whether or not it’s necessarily the best fit for the customer. I’ll be real money. Comes from there top hundred customers, the rest of it is a complex sale through partner organizations or Cloud services that they haven’t figured out.

Pros

amazing co-workers, extremely talented people and generous family planning support (20 weeks of paid parental leave and non-birthing parents have 12 weeks)

Cons

Other than being very attracted to IBM's parental leave policy which I could benefit from in the near future, I am considering running so far from IBM. Leadership has dangled a promotion in front of me for 9+ months and everyone who was expecting a promotion October 15th was told at 5pm on Friday evening they are all pushed to January 1st. I have 90%+ utilization and brining in $$ guaranteed revenue stream for the next year on a client engagement. My overall team is ~20% female of which there is zero (0%) female representation at the leadership (exec) level. This company no longer aligns to my values.
