Pros

- Less politics. Code code code. - Build and develop everything from scratch. - Real impact in healthcare (industry leader in GxP cloud). - Decent new stacks especially in Big Data area. - Robust & well-built automation platform. - Microservice design. - Agile & small team. - Slack, latest macbook series, brand new building, open office. - Stellar engineers. - Many top engineers join Watson Health from other IBM division. This tells a lot. - Relatively young and new fast-paced environment. - The project many times mentioned by Ginni in tech talks. - You feel important and have a rewarding contribution. Feels like a growing startup inside tech giant. Does not feel like traditional IBM. We hate traditional IBM. We moved on. Join Watson Health.

Cons

- No free food. - Pay is flat standard in Cambridge - behind G, FB, APPL, AMZ by far. - Still seeing old-timers IBM zombies with thinkpad and sametime messenger roaming around every once in a while. Frusrating. - The way we conduct all-hands meeting, review, training, paperworks, at many times are still very old-school despite new engineering tools invested. Again, the biggest downside is the IBM general outlook. We suffer a lot from this.

Pros

The people you get to work with (mostly Director and below) in sales, support, services, account team leaders have been great. As you progress up the food chain this declines proportionally. There are many will to help you in any way...understanding the products, engaging the customer, acquiring training, etc.

Cons

This once proud company has struggled to transition to a cloud company. The executive management team has created a culture which is "desperate" and does not value previous contributions. It is strictly "what can you produce this cycle". Many strong leaders are jumping after 20+ year careers to join other SW companies. They see the writing on the wall. Sadly employees are routinely fired or laid off if they cannot meet the numbers. The question of whether the number are realistic or if the strategy is sound it not addressed. The overriding message from the top has been to clean out the >40 crowd in favor of young, new hires. The amount of tribal knowledge being shown the door is shocking.

Pros

Compensation and the name. The benefits are okay but the bonus is horrible. A lot less travel than normal firms

Cons

Horrible project management. Inability to relate to clients. Lack of coordination across the practice. Ibm still uses lotus notes for email and other custom developed software solutions which make your work life suck
