Pros

Follows the internal rulebook in conducting business. For example, one year a portion of my team received a significant portion of additional pay due to an adjustment based on working hours. It appears to me that IBM Payroll self corrected this without employees prompting the company for it. This shows IBM internal business is conducted strictly based on the written policies.

Cons

Company is encumbered by unnecessary processes, not nimble. Top down managerial approach. Company made acquisitions but does not know how to keep the vigor of the acquired entity alive, instead, shows down the energy by IBM's old fashioned culture and our sector was eventually divested from IBM so I say IBM need to think through their acquisition strategy. If you have multiple acquisitions that did not work out, it seems to question the business judgment of the leadership.
