Profit before people

Pros

The Fairfax and Rockville buildings are nice, but conditions vary a lot based on division.

Cons

Too many to list here. All they care about is billing and profit. Morale is horrible. Raises are extremely low and always a percent of income. 2% may be OK for managers earning 100k, but it is nothing for an associate earning 50k. They don't want to promote people because then you get billed to client at higher rate, and clients don't want to pay the higher rates for the same work. ICF prefers to let people go and hire new people at lower rate. The method of improving image to outsiders is to make employees to post to social media about "fun" activities, but it is fake. People are unhappy, and instead of fixing problems, ICF uses PR to try and convince employees that things are good.

False reality

Pros

It’s a job. If you can’t or don’t want to work hard you can hide here forever.

Cons

Horrible leadership. They are more worried about who writes these reviews then they do about fixing the problems. Finance organization is the worst. Leaders who pretend to have things under control, but don’t even understand the basics. Systems projects that are a disaster, but they are touted as successful.

Management is top heavy

Pros

Benefits are great. Pay is at least market average.

Cons

Mid level managers are incompetent, but never moved out of management levels. PTO accrual rates are pathetically low. Paid holidays are limited to 10 per fiscal year. Life work balance is too heavy handed towards more work. Incentive to do a good job us not present. Main focus is bidding on new contracts while existing contracts are almost ignored.
