Pros

A big company that is good for new grad to stay for 1-2 years

Cons

One year after I left this company, I realized how I was actually bullied during my time there. They give you work above 40 hrs and take overtime(till midnight, over weekends) for granted. One of my account lead once sent me emails at 11pm asking three different deliverables due throughout the night, 7am and 9am next morning. I worked extra hard and got a performance review score of 4.25/5 in the first year and 4.75/5 in the second year yet not get promoted. I heard if you pass 4 you should expect a promotion. But I didn’t. Now I figured - they discriminate. They fully make us of the fact that I am non-US citizen and would need extra effort in switching jobs. So they didn’t give me the deserved recognition base they can save money. They indeed bullied me because they can.

Pros

Interesting projects, flexible work schedule

Cons

No clear direction on assignments. Ask a million questions to ensure you do not follow through with an assignment incorrectly. There is a certain "culture" there and if you do not fit in or if you are seen as a weak link, you are theoretically dismissed as someone who cannot contribute or labeled negatively.

Pros

I worked with some outstanding people and had a few great managers. Being a consulting company, you may or may not get to work on a project/contract that matches your interests and career goals. There are plenty of opportunities for growth if you are able to actively network and promote yourself.

Cons

There is a huge difference in culture between the "elite few" who work in the corporate HQ and the front-line grunts working day to day on client sites. If you're full-time on a client site, you probably will be ignored by management except for a few perfunctory all-hands meetings where they talk about revenue and margins and other things meaningful to them and meaningless to you. This is a contracting company, so you are only valuable as long as you are billable. The company says it values its employees, who are after all its only asset of any value, but training and professional development is expected to be done in your "plus 40" time, and preferably without costing the company anything. There are some good managers who will push to get around this policy for their staff, but others aren't motivated to push through this to develop their people.
