Pros

The benefits are pretty great! That's why I applied because of the tuition reimbursement which I could earn up to $5,000 to earn a masters degree.

Cons

The on board training for DHS was horrible! The old contractors were leaving and so my team and I received little training. I was failing at this position because of the lack of training and failing at supporting meetings. No one trained me to support a meeting at an actual meeting. No hands on experience to excel at supporting meetings. I was told to show up on site and write everything you hear. You just had to figure it out as you go along. Writing summary notes was not my thing! I felt like I was back in school writing essays. My project manager knew I was not the best supporting meeting but would still send me.....I don't recall the job description stating I had to travel and had to write lengthy summaries. (I'm just saying.)

Pros

Nice holiday party. Big building in Fairfax.

Cons

My experience was as an on-site Federal contractor. Staff augmentation/lowest price technically acceptable company. During sequestration, ICF gave ZERO pay for the month that the Federal government was shut down and set up their timesheets so that you were unable to collect unemployment during that time. Tricky and terrible. When your contract is up, you're out of a job. My direct manager was a joke who lined them up to lose their re-compete, which happened shortly after I left. There were a lot of unbillable "executives" just hanging out back at Fairfax. Nice holiday party and cocktail get-togethers, but they take ANY staff augmentation, lowest price technically acceptable work and their staff mirrors that caliber. If you want to be on the B team, this is company for you.
