Pros

There are some great people in Clin Ops and Data Management. I never thought I would leave.

Cons

All the great teams in the world cannot make up for hiring shortages, which force staff to cover much more than the 'official' 1.0 FTE . Experienced CRAs get placed on too many protocols with competing deadlines, sites are switched frequently and burn - out is a given.

Pros

Benefits offered are good, occasional assignment on a good team, with a good manager, 1/2 day Fridays every other week definitely helps with the overall morale of the employees.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations, minimal training, and lack of communication. Instead of saying 'figure it out' with most task assignments, offering detailed training results in a quality product, in a more time efficient manner. Too much favoritism with employees that like to discredit people to make themselves look good.

Pros

Great benefits and work life balance! Good starting point to learn more about Clinical Research from a CRO perspective.

Cons

Promotions within the company is so murky. I have met so many wonderful and talented CTAs that are so overqualified for their position! Some hold a PhD, PharmaD, BA, etc... and they have stayed with ICON because they believed in the company, it's culture/values, and hoped to be promoted. Unfortunately, the company does not recognize this. They continue to promote managers to higher positions but keep everyone else in their current position. This company definitely recruits the best but does not retain them... there is a high turn-over rate simply because the company cares more about profit than their people.
