Pros

Whilst you are made to work hard, ICON also have a fantastic support network which ensures that you are always able to get support as needed. The company have really stepped up in the past few years when it comes to employee satisfaction and providing developments opportunities. Senior staff are friendly and welcoming, you do not feel intimidated to come to them for words of advice/support and colleagues are friendly (even when you are not based in the office). Great environment to work in. Positive environment which also allows for growth and development.

Cons

Very hard to strike up a work-life balance as you will most definitely have to be putting in overtime to complete the amount of work there is however this is expected from a Contract Research Organization where multiple trials are being ran. Office location are rather isolated with no great rail links which is why i've recently opted to work home base.

Pros

Good salary and benefits. Nice colleagues.

Cons

Extreme workload with lots of after hours, but overtime is not paid. Very tight timelines. Managers overloaded too therefore don't have time to listen to you, so you can't expect any changes/help when you're stuck or if you struggle. Tasks unevenly divided between departments/employees holding the same position. Very little chance for career progression. Great performance sometimes not recognized while poor performers might be promoted - that's unfair and a real mojo-killer making the employee feel it's better to move on.
