Pros
The people are by far, and away, the greatest highlight of working there. Super helpful and welcoming. The weath of diversity is a breath of fresh air. The cafeteria on site is reasonably priced and really tasty.
Cons
Where does one start? It seems that ICU purchased this solutions plant simply to complete their IV/Infusions portfolio. However, it is clear that this plant is the red headed stepchild of ICU medical. And it shows. There is zero mention of this plant in any town hall or improvement strategy from corporate except to say that it's never meeting expectations (which are also not communicated. Go figure.) Basically, what you see is what you get. There is no room in the budget for resources or improvements. There is always some political stand off between mfg and another department (it changes frequently). Processes are unnecessarily complicated from, what seems like, a misunderstanding of the regs. The vast majority of people coming in are production operators and the leave as fast as they come in. Their experience is a hard one... there's not enough time or resources to ensure these new hires are trained thoroughly (which includes practical safety, understanding the function and care of the equipment, etc.). They check a box on a form and tell them they are ready. With the exception of 1 or 2 SLT members, the upper management team is completely out of touch with the work that needs to be done and, instead, puts all their focus into what the oblivious corporate leadership team wants. This results in constant confusion and reworking. The plant has been around for 40 years and some employees have been there that long. I do think it was a very different experience working for Abbot, Pfizer, Smiths, etc. There's the good 'ol boys who have been there for decades and think everything is fine just as it is so, getting to any sort of agreement for change or improvements takes a lot of selling and sweet talking. Even then, it's taken with palpable hesitation and at the first sign of any blip of something not going according to plan, the effort is abandoned and all revert backwards. They are techphobics and instead of embracing collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, etc, they prefer paper and endless meetings. If you are looking to get some experience in GMP and pharma, this is a great place to start. If you are looking for a long-term career, this would not be my first choice.
