Pros

Best in class products. Exceptional clinical support. Uncapped commission but quota's are high. (Every rep has the same quota and it increased by 25% from 2020 to 2021...which is ridiculous. So, not a pro but a con. See more below.)

Cons

Management style in general is that of fear mongering. Absolutely horrible morale across most sales teams. Very high turnover and they've lost and will continue to lose smart, hard working excellent people until the management style changes. It's a cancer. Absolutely do NOT recommend coming to work for this company. Worst decision I ever made.

Pros

They pay you some money. Seriously, find a tech company in Austin, any other company but here. Negative, 27% revenue past three quarters, the Austin site is bringing the entire company down. Half of management left and new managers stay less than a year, so no one know what's going on except a few favorites. No one shares information with you to do your job. Unless you're offered six figures, it's not worth the hell they will put you through.

Cons

Secretive management, you'll never see a plan to develop anything or see a single business strategy nor quality plan. Old technology compared to nearly all pharmaceutical companies you can think of. They do not cash out PTO on departure. Only HSA and HRA plans, and basic dental. Many other companies do better than 4.5% match on 401k. No free coffee, no lunch meetings, no paid professional development or training. Zero fringe benefits. Depressing work environment with no widows in most offices. You will be asked to do a lot not in your job description by corrupt managers. No actual compounding of pharmaceuticals, they're virtually a medical water bottle company. Competitiors have cheaper products that aren't defective. You'll spend most of your time on quality recovery efforts of defective lots whether you want to or not. This will be the biggest mistake of your career working here.

Pros

Hospira -> Pfizer -> ICU Medical in Austin. Good-hearted, friendly folks on the factory floor. REALLY Great 401k match, 7% max. company contribution added to your 5%.

Cons

Can't make generalizations about other company locations, but the Austin plant atmosphere is almost toxic. Mid/upper management is never responsible for problems, finds blame in those below them, holds grudges, micromanages everything. Every time there's a product impact incident, they pile on more training, more paperwork, more convoluted processes, because it's easier than just fixing the problems. The result? Good people fleeing, including many production supervisors, plus 10 maint. supervisors (They can't keep more than eight maint. supervisors on staff at any one time.) and over 15 good maint. mechanics gone in last three years. Management and HR seem to want to blame (there you go again) the turmoil of the two recent company sales (Pfizer and ICUMedical), but it's the local culture that's been in place since Abbott sold the plant in 2004. Ask any 25-30 year employee here. Things here won't change until management "moves on", and that won't happen. Do I seem disgruntled? Management, no doubt, will blame me for that, too. Beware.
