Pros

In an area of high unemployment, I receive a steady paycheck for now.

Cons

- No merit pay increases because the budget is 'frozen,' supposedly (strange, as I know our manager is getting their yearly bonus) - Anyone who speaks up with ideas to improve the department becomes the victim of negative managerial scrutiny - Management is continually absent at best, useless at worst - Morale is down across the entire office, in every department - No job security to speak of - Employee performance is measured entirely by unrealistic metrics that have no actual bearing on the real-world work environment or actual productivity

Pros

There are two good things IGT has going for it. Great people whom you will work with, and a great work life balance.

Cons

The senior leadership really has no clue what they are doing or how to retain talent. There is a constant fear of layoffs, while salary increases and promotions are nothing more than a fairy tale. People are considered just a number and the once great family culture is missing. As a result they are loosing some pretty talented people. You know it is bad when there is a going away party every few weeks.

Pros

For the most part you can just come in, do your job, and go home. Lots of exposure to Linux systems as well as Windows, learn how databases and servers work to deliver gambling games to the public. Potential to get hired directly with state lottery. If you like long shifts in order to get longer weekends (11 hour shifts, 3+ days off a week) then this is a good schedule.

Cons

CEO makes 12 million a year, thats 3x more than any other CEO in this industry, yet IGT can't even afford to buy comfortable chairs for our 11 hour shifts. Chairs are broken and in some cases able to cause injury. Sometimes food is brought in (rarely) but compare that to Facebook or Google (who gives out 3 meals a day). Management will lie to you (not keeping promises made) and emails are easily ignored/unaddressed. They are generally subpar when it comes to feedback and overall quality. Every IGT cuts costs and of course non-management are the first ones to suffer. No stock options, no holiday parties, low matching contribution to 401k, and definitely no holiday bonuses. You get vacation time, but it ends up being negated because you have to cover for other employees when they go on vacation. Mandatory OT is assigned if nobody offers to cover.
