Working for GTECH can be good. But you really need to understand the game being played.
Pros
Flexible attitude to work. Excellent benefits and definitive market leader in its sector. A lot of great people to work with.
Cons
GTECH operates in a very niche market that is conservative to the extreme. Lots of key staff have been there years and lack the up to date knowledge and innovation experience required to keep what is essentially a technology company up to date with regard to deploying modern solutions. There is a lack of investment in training and R&D generally as the organisation is driven quarter to quarter to achieve growth figures and debt repayment objectives set by the shareholders. No long term view and no real future planning. Since the leveraged acquisition by Lottomatica, senior staff work more and more on a "could be replaced by an Italian" any minute basis. There is no real work/life balance.
