Lack of good strategy and planning leaves IGT scrambling in weak economy

Pros

There are a lot of talented, dedicate employees who are good to work with. Benefits are excellent. On-site cafeteria and fitness center are nice perks and convenient.

Cons

Company is playing catch-up in weak gaming environment. IGT was not prepared for leaner times and is now in desparate situation to cut costs, improve efficiencies and better innovate. Continuous budget cuts, layoffs and salary freezes have resulted in low employee morale. New executives from non-gaming backgrounds don't fully understand/appreciate gaming industry.

They are willing to pay new hires significantly more than exhisting employees. Really is not fair to the current employees

Cons

This place is going down quickly. Unless you are coming in as senior management I don't reccomend working at IGT.

Pros

Good pay for the Reno area. Health benefits are good for the area Clean, friendly work environment Onsite free gym Onsite Cafeteria Company encourages and supports personal improvement including health and education initiatives

Cons

Aimless upper management Constant reorganization hurts the company in many ways including lack of contributor recognition because employees are moving to to management structure all to often. This leads to employee apathy. Constant reorganization has put new outside management who is blind to the importance of tribal knowledge and historical workflow mistakes. This means that they are doomed to repeat the mistakes. Longterm employees are feeling that their experience and history is too quickly disregarded and as such have begun to stop giving input. Engineering tools and workflows are chaotic.
