Pros

Will hire fresh grads for entry-level positions if you're just getting started in the workforce. Decent sales training.

Cons

Sexist and toxic workplace culture with a corrupt HR department that will not investigate sexual harassment or hostile work environment claims. There was more than on incident among the delegate team when I worked there. Sales goals were unattainable and based on number of outbound phone calls like it was 2003 instead of 2017 & 2018. Salaries do not match cost of living by any means and commision is not enough to survive on either. Only 30 minutes for lunch and definitely a "butts in seats" job where they want to watch your every move, control how often you stand up, yell at you for walking in on time or 2 minutes late, treat employees like cattle, give no space to work in, pressure employees to drink after work and at functions. There was also clear favoritism not based on performance but how good looking you were as a girl or good of a "bro" you were as a guy. When I was there, we had no female management of any kind all the way up to the top level of the company. The Sponsorship sales team was also all men. Don't work somewhere like this if you can avoid it. Worst place I've ever worked. I'd rather be a waitress or a underpaid nanny or scrub floors than ever work here again.

Pros

-Research Phase can be incredibly interesting. Learning lots about things you have never thought about before -Talking to interesting people is really cool. -Definitely a great opportunity to learn grit and determination

Cons

At it’s core IQPC is a pretty bad place to work and it all relates back to an absolute lack of vision, strategy or ideals at the companies core. The most senior leaders only goal is profit. Nothing else. This means that there is no premium on execution and events, portfolios, employees and ideas are only judged on how big the profit cell is in the MD’s spreadsheet. This leads to producers putting out ~8 events a year, often juggling four conferences in various stages of production, making it difficult to focus on the task at hand. This also means that events deadlines are very quick, with quality taking a hit as producers rush to get their assigned number of speakers onto the agenda in the prescribed amount of time, before starting a new event while still working on filling out existing conference agendas. This leads to burnout, high levels of stress and events that often leave much to be desired. Further, because profit is the only real goal, IQPC cuts corners on cost anywhere and everywhere, leading to barebones events, employees with no resources and a complete lack of respect paid to their employees and to the audiences the supposedly serve. The events only exist because someone somewhere thinks that there is money to be made, and you as the producer can either prove them right, or prove them wrong and be asked to take your talents elsewhere. There is no onus on quality, integrity or vision.

Pros

Great midtown location albiet the oldest building on the block.

Cons

There is an under culture here that is malevolent and malicious. Silly games in the mornings that don't make you a better salesperson. Work/life balance is a phrase with no meaning here.

I was sorry to read that you didn't have a good experience whilst working with us. We are absolutely open to suggestions would really appreciate it if you could reach out to IQPCNYHR@iqpc.com to tell us more about your experience so that we can look at ways to improve. Further, continuous improvement is a key part of my role as the HR Director and, in fact, we just completed our annual employee engagement survey and are finalizing the action points which we will be delivering back to our employees. A key component of this survey focused on how we can further support our employee's work/life balance and we are in the midst of rolling out a number of initiatives in this space. Again, I'm sorry that your experience wasn't what you had hoped for and wish you the best as you move forward towards a role that is a better fit for you.
