The most unrealistic and ridiculous work load ever known to man

Pros

Working for a large global company gives you opportunity to work with some great minds so you meet some good people. People harp on about the training but it's nothing special.

Cons

Do as you're told. Do the bare minimum. Not encouraged to be innovative. Budgets always getting chopped. Huge egos. Senior management butt kisses high performers - who then become impossible to work with. A lot of senior management are 'children' - one MD is early 30s - hugely unprofessional and sexist with a dash of racist too. It's all very incestuous and gossip filled environment.

Pros

I've worked at four conference companies in my career and this was by a mile the best. The company hires, for the most part, brilliant people who are driven, energetic and good at what they do. The office has a strong work hard/ play hard ethos and thanks to the company's guesting strategy you don't have those horrendous on site delivery issues like at other companies, where you have ten sponsors and even fewer delegates! For the most part the company listens to ideas from all corners and encourages small innovations. I have nothing but praise for the owner, Rick Worden, who is a brilliant CEO and supportive of his senior managers around the globe.

Cons

It is a sales environment, so it is constant high pressure and results orientated. This isn't for everyone, but typically it's the best who thrive and the worst who leave (and leave stroppy comments on glasshouse...). Can be inconsistent with on site delivery depending on current business results.

Pros

Good business development skills, really learn to understand the market.

Cons

Bs policies. If you are new you get no leads, and get on new launch events to sell. If they like you they will put you on a good event and you will make money and make your 90 days. Then if you don't make it in very little time, you get terminated. Very little pay and weak commission structure. No opportunities to really advance and management has their favorites.
