Pros

Promotion from another federal organization. Management finally recognized the internal focus of the organization stifled the organization. The

Cons

archaic, archaic, archaic... The ISS Criminal Investigation IT organization is run like Endless small shops, not a 3,000 person division of a 80,000 person company. The people of influence have worked for the organization for 10-20 years and the culture reflects the internal focus of the organization. The "new" help desk doesn't even create tickets for the issues leaving the clients to call and call again without recourse. The endless layers of pay grades of are little value. The GS9 does the same work at the GS14, but the GS14 makes 3x the pay and retires in five years after 20 years with the organization. The prior organization was a mess and was told over and over again to lower my expectations; only to find the new organization an even bigger mess.

Pros

My coworkers, educational resources are good once you are taught how to use them. Some managers are nice

Cons

No parking, you have to pay for parking downtown. Not enough $ for the stress, unprofessional, 1 year probationary period. Cannot take off during 3 months of training, cannot take off during probationary period (unless its urgent but its frowned upon). They ask for dr. Notes for 1 absence (that's not how it works). No work life balance and the list goes on.
