Pros

Worked in three offices over a four year career, and never met a terrible coworker. The benefits are pretty good for a first full-time job, both compensation as well as health insurance, retirement, ect.

Cons

Upper management has a choke-hold on lower management and their employees. Little to no incentive for employees to excel in their positions. Too task orientated, regardless of employees individual capacity.

Pros

Compensation was good, large cafeteria with nice selection of different types of food, reasonably priced. Desk and office chair were top notch, new phones. An excellent addition to your resume as a professional reference.

Cons

Everything you say or do is closely monitored, right down to how many times you use the restroom. Your phone calls are monitored, you are given an IRS email address, but you cannot use it for anything but govt uses, and you cannot use it unless you are early to shift, on your break, or after hours. Why would I use it for work purposes, if I wasn't being paid? Management is very aloof and usually unavailable. You cannot check personal email, period. Even if on break. 50% of people that work there are probably clinically obese. Stress is known to cause weight gain, what does that tell you? Don't be fooled. No one calls the IRS when they are happy, you have a script to follow for every possible scenario (not a bad thing) that you are to follow verbatim (not such a good thing) if you have any personality whatsoever, reconsider working here because you won't be "helping" taxpayers nor are you allowed to go into any sort of even basic, beginner tax law, you can lose your job for that.
