      Pros

      Pay and benefits and lots of paid time off, camaraderie with fellow new hires, always learning something new. Great way to get foot in the door. Most people will move up within the department or into higher paying positions in other departments. I had many roles within my department which kept my time interesting.

      Cons

      Internal politics, some customers are rude and demanding and don't like our policies. Some of it's IRS fault - processes to resolve complex cases are slow, lots of red tape. Many politicians want to cut our funding, which could lead to hiring freezes and could succeed when Trump returns to office. When IRS gets negative publicity, customers will rub it in.

      Good Work-life balance. Benefits Fers & Thrift saving plan

      Cons

      Voluminous training material. Training is rushed most times. Environments can be toxic at times because of supervisors who fail to take accountability. It is a lot of self-taught and figuring out things on your own. Management mantra if you make mistakes, "you were trained." Some training workshops are horrible. I am ready to quit and actively looking.
