Pros

great coworkers...massive impact on human health

Cons

1. Corrupt leadership from C suite under SEC investigation for insider trading 2. People resigned or fired to avoid liability which has to be taken up by employees and shareholders. Check that they are exempt from past and future liabilities. 3. Board took insurance to rubber stamp insider trading 4. ex CEO got a bump in pay from 14 million to 27 million for indulging in corrupt practices and bringing our stock from 550 to 169. 5. interim CEO or legal counsel who oversaw the Grail fiasco got a massive pay bump while overseeing layoffs of 10 percent employees . he also said we do not deserve bonus because we are all highly paid. let's come to it. 6. hr chief publicly mentioned no layoffs after Nov 22 layoffs in Feb/march 23 and then promptly laid off in q2 this year. 6. illumina base salary is at par with big pharma and lagging any second tier companies like Qualcomm Intel asml dexcom pacbio and their startup competitors. median base pay is as follows engr 1- 75k engr 2 - 90k Sr eng - 110k staff- 135k Sr staff- 160k principal- 190k directior- 220k raise are 3 percent. 7. here is the best part. illumina pays a bonus of 10 percent at sr staff level. it is not paid every other year as finance makes up estimates out of thin air 8. stock grant is at par wit big pharma but laughably low compared to Qualcomm asml or other tier 2 companies. for reference it is 40k at staff level. 9. no performance culture. raise is 3 percent. no rating. bonus is tied to company performance and not your performance. if you are rated higher you will get 5 to 10k stocks more than the lowest rated person divided over 4 years 10. San Diego real estate market is on fire. 1 million gives you a crappy house you won't feel like staying. 1.2 you will get okish houses. that is 9k per month in mortgage. 11. they have made questions in company meetings non anonymous as they can't face questions regarding their corruption. same with the power of I survey which has been discontinued and also non anonymous.

Pros

Revenue, a never ending stream of revenue.

Cons

Forced vaccines announced. Discrimination, hostile work environment if you are not 110% to the political left on every issue. Ineffective, incompetent leadership from the CEO and executive team. The CEO can't be bothered to run the business but he's awesome at being "woke" and shoving politics down everyone's throats. Time for new leadership! The Francis experiment has failed and the board sits on their hands, doing nothing. Wake up!

Pros

Mission, Benefits, Dodgeball, cool campus, life changing products. support during initial covid hit was great.

Cons

Nasty politics, infighting, siloes, arrogance, group think management prevents anything from ever getting done and 'outsiders' are not tolerated. Every Team has 'secrets" ZERO work life balance, and no regard for changing that. Lot of turnover.
