Pros

You learn a lot about linux and a lot of sys admin skills and the people are great

Cons

The downside is that you are sitting on your desk straight for 8 hours taking back to back to back phone calls. It is very draining. At the same time you are asked to do emails or answer chats while at the same time making sure to keep the quality at 100% , it's too much. and not too mention that the customers can become abusive. On top of that you're supposed to end every phone call within 15 min. and emails within 30 min. or else management is all over you, so you unintentionally end up rushing the customer off the phone or providing a below average response to the email just so you can meet the time limit. They say that if you escalate to a higher tier early you will always make the time... but the higher tier that you escalate to is taking escalations from like 30 other people so they can't even give you full attention.

Pros

- I have made a few really great friends there, and love being able to teach people, I genuinely loved my time there. - If you have a nice personality, people will flock to you. Like a beam of sunlight on a cloudy day, people will look up to you if you are patient and don't mind answering questions from some of the lower tiers you can amass a great and powerful following that would sacrifice their lives for you. Do not use this power for evil my friends. - Free lunches on Tuesday - Snacks in the cabinets for the first 6 hours after restocking them - As you climb the ladder your workload and stress start to fall immensely. - They love people who do overtime, if you like working a lot, they will pass out OT like candy. - Depending on the shift, nerf gun fights, I think they had a game night at one point where people would bring in consoles and play after hours

Cons

- The politics are pretty insane and moving up is a lot about who you know. Though that is like that everywhere. I once heard about someone trying to get another person fired who applied for a position they wanted but were rejected from. Which I think did happen later... - Also the pay is bad. If you are a Tier 1 you can make some serious cash with the monthly bonuses, but after Tier 2 or Systems Admin, the bonuses are much smaller and harder to achieve. - Some supervisors are extremely incompetent and others play a dictator-like role

Pros

InMotion Hosting keeps getting better as it grows. The management here actually cares about employees and wants everyone to enjoy their job and have fun. We are encouraged to go out of our way to help customers, and are rewarded for going the extra mile! There are many bonuses and monthly raffles in Support. There is even a monthly drawing to reward us employees just for showing up to work on time for the entire month. Who does that? Managers are taking new team members out to lunch, and everyone goes on off site activities all the time. We even get paid when customers send in kudos about us. I keep seeing new ways of employee recognition thought up by management. Also free lunch for the whole company every Tuesday and free snacks delivered every week. But these are all just perks. The real benefit is the culture of learning and improving. Everyone is highly skilled and all are eager to share their expertise. The path from beginner to System Administrator and beyond is uniquely possible in a relatively short time. Oh, and we all share profits twice a year! Advancement potential is real and there are many avenues for growth, and I've worked for companies where I didn't feel valued and was absolutely miserable. I love working with InMotion and the core values they adhere to. This is a company you'll want to establish yourself with and

Cons

It's usually pretty busy, but not exactly a con as long as you like to work. The work-life balance gets blurred as you develop friendships with your team mates.
