Pros

I'm a bit surprised to see how low the ratings are for Included Health. I have personally had a very good experience here overall. There's been good opportunity growth, I've seen many team members promoted. At least within my team, management is very supportive of us and primarily seems to have our best interest in mind and tried hard to guard our time for high value work. I'm sure this varies significantly from team-to-team or even manager-to-manager, but I've personally had an overall positive experience.

Cons

There was a round of layoffs early 2024, then by later 2024 we seemed to be hiring several positions that were effected by layoffs. Perhaps this is just a consequence of managing at scale in an uncertain environment and the leadership team just guessed wrong on where we would be as company but this was a bit of a head scratcher. It makes me a little curious about what might drive the leadership team to consider a future layoff. Also, within the team and individuals that I work with closely, there have been a handful of departures in short succession, seemingly driven by a significantly higher comp offered by to the leaving employees. I'm hoping leadership, HR, and relevant parties are taking note and will make adjustments to comp because I've seen us let some talented people walk out the door.

Thank you for sharing such helpful feedback - it's great to hear about your positive experience on the team. We also hear your concerns around compensation and have shared these insights with our Compensation Team. Thanks so much for your review. This is disappointing to hear and is never the experience we want for anyone on the team. We'll escalate this to leadership and recommend also reaching out to your Manager or Talent Partner for additional support. They're always available to help.

Pros

- Meaningful mission - Smart, capable people - Constant growth, big clients - Particularly good platform team/functionality - the cons listed below are my own, and may well be pros for you. If you’re a genuinely top 1% talent who thrives in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment, you’ll probably love working at IH

Cons

- At some point, “lean and hungry” just becomes starving. There’s too much work that needs to be done to too many products and systems, and far too few people to do it properly. There’s lots of after hours/weekend work and rigorous on-call expectations. It’s a particularly challenging environment for individuals with significant commitments in their personal lives. - It’s an intense, constant-growth environment. It’s not enough to be fantastic at what you do. If you’re not on a growth trajectory year-over-year, you’ll be managed out. - Included Health elevates and rewards transformational leaders who promise the world with confidence and energy. As a result, projects are unrealistically ambitious, chronically overdue and subject to substantial scope cuts late in development. - Between burnout, layoffs, and routinely managing out the bottom 10-15% performing employees, a significant majority of the founding engineering team is no longer with the company. Institutional knowledge is shallow and not particularly valued.

Thanks for your detailed feedback. Things do move quickly around here, but that shouldn't come at the cost of employee well-being. We're so sorry that was your experience. We take this seriously and will share it with leadership. Thanks again.
