Pros

Multiple job opportunities to choose from. Opportunities to grow professionally, skill-wise.

Cons

Gradual elimination of growth opportunities and earning opportunities (scant pay increases, significant reduction in pay grades), reduction/elimination of incentives, increasing ratios without adequate, competent ancillary staff. Corporate shows disinterest in maintaining seasoned staff and incentives to keep interest of less experienced staff, i.e, large turnover staffing issues, use of contractors. Corporate will survey staff for opinions, but doesn't give them a vote. Harsh/punitive attendance policy that makes staff made unhealthy decisions.

Pros

Regional referral medical center, many dedicated staff (to patients)

Cons

Salary low, benefits poor, morale low, understaffing significant. Largest drawback is from very top down, leadership is poor, values are all profit and ownership driven over patient and staff. Hyper-controlling and stifling atmosphere. Punitive, capricious in staff management. Cronyism advancement with firm Peter Principle culture.

Pros

There are great opportunities to learn. I work with great people.

Cons

It's disturbing more than I can say to see my co-workers come to work with fevers, headaches, diarrhea and even vomiting. Recently, I witnessed a co-working vomiting in her trashcan. If we call in sick, we ARE given an occurance, regardless of the reason. If you are in a car accident on your way to work and lose a leg, you are given an occurance, If you child is hospitalized at an IU hospital, you are given an occurance. This is even true if you have never been absent before. Reasons do not matter to IU Health. Instead a creating an environment of compassion while treating people as individuals, IU health has decided to treat their employee's like cattle. They've removed the human element.
