Pros

Honestly, there are almost none. One, working at the AAHC (downtown Indy) provides exposure to research and technology not found in the suburban hospitals. Second, the people working in those buildings are second to none.

Cons

Corporate greed. Employees were given a 1% raise while inflation rages at 8.5%, So, really the employees took a 7.5% decrease in pay. The CEO, Dennis Murphy, is compensated 4.7 million. The remaining executive members make no less than 1.2 million in salary alone, not to include their bonuses. What do they do directly for any patient that justifies these obscene, over inflated, greedy salaries?

Pros

Helping patients is very motivating, too bad the culture of Cath Lab distracts from the true purpose that we work for.

Cons

The management is very much not in touch with right and wrong and displays a large lack of integrity. The culture is the worst I have seen in my many years being a nurse. There is not a patient first culture and patients are routinely put at risk. The management makes decisions that are not in the best interest of the Cath lab and the management does not care about the employees. It is so bad that outside help has been brought in to help improve the culture, but all it has done is reinforce the bad culture. Individuals are allowed to act horribly to each other and management turns a blind eye. There is a culture of bullying and any attempt to make things better by bringing up concerns is responded to by retaliation. Do NOT apply for a job in the Cath lab, you will regret the decision.

Pros

I think very intelligent nurses and other staff work here, there are many competent people willing to sacrifice themselves to their jobs.

Cons

Main CEO (Evans) doesn't understand the culture of bedside care and focuses on too much of a business perspective. Dishonest, biased reasoning for wage cuts and layoffs like the ACA (which has actually helped many of my patients pay their medical bills). Unfair absence policy only gives 4 sick times (or less depending on location) in a year with disciplinary points after 3-4 unplanned absences. Meaning if you are sick once in April and call in, you will have that counted against you until April of the following year. Nurses work sick. Also don't have the staff needed to provide safe care. Nurse to patient ratio usually above grid and borders unsafe. Management demonstrates lack of respect for professionals. Salary is well below national average and nurses in some IU health locations start around $22.33 per hour. Entire IU health system is like a monopoly and doesn't factor in the different needs of different locations across Indiana.
