Pros

Slow pace of work, but not very slow, little below average. Perfect work-life balance.

Cons

Not up to date on technologies and very hard to push new tech, very set in their ways.

Pros

Benefits are good. Bloomington, IN is inexpensive place to live.

Cons

Very unfriendly working environment, very bureaucratic. Faculty politics, prides and vanities are killing all the fun in the academic scientific research. This university is not supporting start-ups and entrepreneurship, actually the opposite. With a PhD in sciences at IUB , after about 200 tenure track applications submitted over 2 years I did not manage to secure an assistant professor position at any of the top-200 USA universities (US NEWS Education top).

Great place to learn new skills and improve current skills

Cons

Part time/hourly employees taken advantage of. Expected to do full time professional work without the benefits
