Pros

Very good benefits. Best teamwork environment I've ever partaken in. Excellent Co-workers. Cross department cooperation was stellar. Management provides all resources needed to do the job properly. Office environment is exceptionally well maintained. Had the decency to give multi-month notice of layoffs so some employees could begin transitioning to other career opportunities. FORMERLY HAD a Strong company culture. FORMERLY HAD long term job stability. FORMERLY HAD a strong vision of the company's direction. FORMERLY HAD a focus on quality work and service.

Cons

Compensation was always on the low side. Management decisions are always very slow. Finance department was cripplingly slow and difficult to work with when getting new equipment. HR department frequently ignored emails and calls. During 2022 upper management changes have been very negative. Since 2022 focus on quality and service has deteriorated; the new focus is on giving as little support as possible to the customer, SPIRIT Project in 2023-2024 has put the responsibility for fixing upper management's failures on the regular employees. Step-Up in 2024-2025 has placed more importance on the share holders profits over employees resulting in layoffs and outsourcing to 3rd world countries that will continue to blindside employees until 2026 October.

Run Away As Fast As You Can.

Pros

Nothing much comes to mind, the 401(k) matching is pretty decent.

Cons

Everything else, from useless management to an HR department that spends all its time protecting the ridiculous decisions and incredibly poor judgement of management. If you have an ounce of ambition in your run away from this company as fast as you can. You won't get anywhere. All decisions have to come from Germany, all inventions have to come from Germany. The approach is that if you're not German/Austrian you have nothing constructive to contribute. The fact that the Americas CEO is a marketing guy who probably has never set foot in a fab tells you everything you need to know about how the parent company regards the US. IT management is weak, borderline criminally negligent. They are stuck in a 20th century world view. You're not every going to be allowed to work remotely here. Incompetent know-nothing managers who were promoted based on who they knew rather than what they knew have to micro-manage you to within an inch of your life to try to justify their existence. They can't do that if you're remote!

Pros

Great products and technology. Opportunity to travel domestically as well as internationally to Germany and Austria. Big time customers to support and visit from time to time. Some departments you will not be expected to work much at all, others next door to you will require more effort. Depends on your manager and department. Very hard to get fired, that is perhaps a con as many folks come to milk off the niceness of the company.

Cons

You will never be able to be autonomous from the German rule. Do not try to have an independent idea and if you do, you better have an ally at HQ to support your idea and a plan. Support is limited from Germany and is not timely but their expectations of you are quite different. America's culture in Milpitas location is very poor, and upper management is disconnected with middle management and could care less about your aspirations to climb that ladder. Also, incompetent managers thrive alongside the hardworking managers and the pay will be the same so where is the incentive to try harder?
