Pros
Company Culture:
* Not too small a site, not too big. You can get to know people without getting sick of each other.
* Leads and supervisors in the fab are very approachable. Everyone working in the cleanroom is very eager to teach/encourage newbies.
* Nice break room: flat screen tvs, free-to-use coffee machine (lattes, mochas, etc.), lemonade, and tea. Vending machines with healthier options.
Benefits:
* 401K Matching up to 4.5% of yearly take home.
* 10 paid holidays a year (do not need to work).
* About 4 PTO hours earned every two work weeks for new employees. Better for folks who have been there longer.
Schedule:
* Condensed work schedule means 3-4 days off in a row.
* When my sup or lead asks folks if they can cover an unexpected absence, they are very understanding. No arm pulling. Just a "hey, if you are available, we need help".
* Three breaks over 12.5 hour day:
- paid 30 min break in morning
- unpaid 30-45 min lunch
- paid 30 min break in afternoon
Opportunity for Growth:
* If you want to learn more, and you are committed, you will be supported. Management is receptive to ideas for improvement.
* Company pays employees for ideas that save money, streamline processes, and reduces opportunity for error, called YIP: Your Idea Pays.
Cons
Specific to Company:
* Pay is quite low for the industry. Start at $14/hr.
* Night shift only earns a 10% differential (20% is standard)
* Mandatory overtime is assigned at random. One day per month.
* The work instructions and OCAPs need to be seriously updated.
* The 'certification' quizzes and tests are, likewise, very outdated.
Specific to Industry:
* Expect to work holidays. Barring a spectacular year (in terms of company income) the plant rarely shuts down.
