It pays, but it is just a job.

Pros

They have fair wages and benefits. Opportunity to work overtime.

Cons

Poor Communication, difficult to get day shift or promotions. Safety is too extreme to where you feel like you are being treated like a child. (Safety IS very important, but they leave no decisions to employees to make appropriate precautions on their own) Many jobs are affected by weather and you can be exposed to the elements until you go to break. They lay responsibility of the job to be covered by the employee that showed up for work if the employee for the following shift does not show.

Pros

Ownership - you have the ability to make decisions and changes to improve your work and the company performance. We can choose to change our career path if we have other interests and there is a need for the business.

Cons

Not having enough resources to meet our customer needs and priority changes. Starting and stopping work is inefficient and this leave work undone and upsetting customers.

Pros

Good people to work with, employees as people are valued and treated fairly well, pay is decent, benefits package is good.

Cons

No upward mobility, no accountability for Director level and higher with regards to if their department is thriving or failing and why. Seen alot of turnover in some departments with no consulting of other employees as to what is going on. Culture is a bit old school and old boys' club mentality, lack of any mentorship by management - just sort of left to your devices and even if you show competitency, tasks are just taken away and you are held back professionally. Sometimes management acts as if its in an upper eschelon 'club' of sorts and that no 'regular' employee could possibly do their job thereby holding people back even though they have decades of experience.
