Like many companies, Insight seems to forget about pay raises, inflation, etc for people working entry level positions. I make a measly $17.50/ hour doing an IT Helpdesk position for a major metro airport which is Insight's client. Even after moving from a contracted to a full-time position, there wasn't even a 25 cent raise. I also have a hard time being able to use PTO. The client being an airport, there is not a lot of room to take time off. Holidays I never get off, and usually when I want any kind of time off I have to swap with another employee. To this day I have never used any of my PTO. My wage is simply too low for Denver's living expenses, so I have a second job and work 60+ hours each week. Based on a lot of the company literature and info that goes out via email, I can tell that for many (salaried) employees, it's an amazing place to work. Maybe if I can move up one day I will feel differently but for now, will I ever see any kind of raise? I completed the required training for my position and have been in it for just about 1 year now. Is there any kind of reward for putting in the effort? For now, I plan to bank more experience and then move along to a better paying position so that I have the ability to work just 1 job instead of 2. Live simply isn't about (shouldn't be about?) working oneself all the way to the grave... Even a 2 or 3 dollar an hour raise would make a world of difference for me, and Insight probably wouldn't even notice the expense.
