Pros

If you want to only work 30 hrs a week and have no accountability this is the place for you. If you like a laid back atmosphere with passive management and little motivation this is a great place to be. If you are ok with no upward mobility or merit increases this is a great company for you.

Cons

If you want to be challenged and drive the business and collaborate this is the wrong company for you. A lot of political in fighting and paranoia in the management ranks. If you don't work in Tempe and constantly report up you will be expendable. Terrible benefits and 401K vesting. Very amateur leadership in most areas top to bottom. Market leaders are mostly retreads or fist timers. No real training or career planning or support.

Pros

People on the front lines of consulting services are knowledgeable and nice.

Cons

Executive staff is all from CapGemini and they want Insight to become a cut-throat consulting firm. They had a sales reorganization last year which broke the pipeline so no new work was coming in for the delivery teams to execute. So they laid off delivery teams. They later admitted that the sales reorg was bad, and decided to change it up again, adding another self inflicted hiccup to the sales pipelines, and more delivery folks get let go. They’re focusing now on growth…but only if you’re an offshore engineer. They talk of hunger heart and harmony, but all that’s left is hunger for more work that they can’t staff since they got rid of most of their delivery employees. Benefits have been on the decline for a year. Less PTO, higher utilization requirements, worse health insurance. Clients are generally unhappy because after they make a relationship with a sales team, they’re then passed to internal sales folks which act like used car dealers. Then when the work starts, they get a revolving door of engineers because Insight can’t keep people around. Quarterly bonuses are done with funny math. Some folks work 60 hour weeks to get and extra $1k per quarter, others are on the bench half the time and get an extra $700 per quarter.

Pros

- Great learning opportunity. - Access to a lot of industry leading programs and software. - Get to work with some amazing individuals. - Because turnover is so high, career opportunities can be described as high because spots are always opening up!

Cons

- Company has made a calculated choice a long time ago to suppress pay and continue paying below industry average. That view has not changed. - Turnover is high so company culture is thin. - Insight runs really lean. Example: I had no access to basic office supplies. Had to get supplies from teammates around me who had extra to spare. Insight is a multi billion dollar company... - Insight seems to care less about the work produced in front of them than academic accomplishments. I felt incredibly smart teammates got passed on for promotions simply because of their education, rather than for their work. - I was very unimpressed by upper management. Direct management had little understanding of the technical details of what the team was doing. C-suite individuals spent hours using flowery language that amounted to nothing and boiled down to: we need to do better, so be better. -Some good managers, but that's the exception.
