Working here in corporate will be a mistake you’ll realize very quickly after you start. The most unstable, chaotic workplace I’ve ever been a part of. Only after I found a new position did I realize how unreasonable and destructive the management style was.
Layoffs and firings occur with absolutely no consideration about the work the individual did and who will pick up those responsibilities to keep the department running. My final year there I had the most offensive, abrasive boss. I was routinely asked at the last-minute (the day before) to travel to locations on the weekends or on Fridays to capture content for marketing purposes when we purportedly had a 4-day workweek. That 4-day workweek isn’t real by the way. It’s used as an PR tactic and hiring ploy, but everyone I worked, with including myself, had to work on Fridays due to last-minute management decisions (like changing the weekend’s deals) so you’d be forced to change all the content plans you made for the weekend at the last-minute.
Due to lack of coverage and high turnover, I worked almost every evening, weekend, and holiday digitally for years. The salaries are also extremely low. You end up trauma bonding with your coworkers because of how ridiculous the working environment is, but sadly in the end you’ll all be laid off as the company routinely does layoffs before annual reviews to avoid salary increases. Insomnia is perpetually chasing “what’s cool” at the expense of the mental health of all who work there. If you do end up working there (hey, I get it. The job market isn’t great!), do yourself a favor and get a therapist. You’ll need one.
