Zero work life balance. You have to sell the doctor on the product (and the product is now completely out dated compared to its competitors & has a ton of problems), then you have to sell the patient on it, then you have to fight with insurance companies to cover it, and then you have to figure out a way to get the pod to shipped to the patient. This all falls on you. To do the job right and not cut any corners you will work over 50 hours a week. You'll be taking phone calls on nights and weekends.
The goals kept going up dramatically even though nothing was given to the field to help reach the unrealistic targets. In my time (BTW I was in winners circle in 18) it only got harder to sell this product bc Insulet kept shooting themselves in the foot (ask about DASH launch, moving into pharmacy channel, or Medicare coverage) yet the goals just kept sky rocketing. This put a lot of pressure on teams and managers and it just got ugly and gross towards the end of my time. They implemented a new monthly goal system that made it very hard to hit your IC/TI.
The product has terrible coverage especially in the Medicare space. So if you are in a heavy Medicare area pass on this job. Honestly, only take this job if you are desperate. The commercial coverage is hit or miss and varies from territory to territory. Yet you are compared to others across the whole country.
The managers are just home office mouth pieces so if you have problems they really cant do anything to help fix them even though they want to. The problem is Insulet runs on fear. Its home office VS. the field and home office wins every time.
More and more TM's are fleeing Insulet for greener pastures and its very hard for the company to fill these spots bc the word is out...its a terrible place to work. I will say that I did make the most money of my life while working there but I truly hated almost every day of it. In a couple of years they might work out some of these massive issues, they might get a new management team, but until then dont bother. Save your soul and go work somewhere else.
