Pros

I was able to get a lot of experience here in areas of mental health care that interested me. There was good support from other staff members, though a lot changed over the years and I can't speak to the current state of things since Intermountain Health took over. I felt I was paid better than at other community mental health jobs.

Cons

Environment could be stressful mostly due to high patient acuity, though I usually found my case load manageable.

Pros

Many employees have extensive experience in healthcare from clinical care to medical billing and patient coordination, creating a culture of learning and encouraging excellence. Those who directly interface with patients are often incredibly supportive of coworkers and patients alike.

Cons

As is the fashion with most large companies, Intermountain Health continues to take on more debt by buying smaller healthcare orgs, continues to add highly compensated senior management, while those who directly interface with and care for patients suffer stagnating pay, increased benefit cost, and inadequate staffing.

Our benefits will continue to evolve based on caregiver feedback and market data. Additionally, while the healthcare industry continues to face staffing shortages across the nation, Intermountain is employing innovative solutions to address these shortages, including remote and hybrid work options for select positions where possible, tuition reimbursement/education assistance, paid training programs and apprenticeships, and partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations to develop a pipeline of healthcare talent. Through these avenues, as well as an organizational focus on retention efforts, we’re working to ensure we have the workforce we need to provide high quality care to our patients and communities.
