Pros

People at the lower local levels are dedicated and hard working

Cons

Management from the General Management level up is ridiculous. Often times it seems like the corporate people are inventing new positions to justify pay increases while the people doing the hard work on the ground are paid like peasants. The GM at the location I worked was an over-bearing micromanager whose daily tirades would often get in the way of regular job functions. The HR department makes even the simplest of requests seem like a daunting challenge. The technology is out dated. For a tech company they act like they are afraid of spending money and time to make theirs better. Spent several years working with servers/software/office PC's that were out of date or on the verge of breaking. The equipment that is being supported is even out dated (some were using parts that were no longer being manufactured). There is no planning for the future and very little money spent on technology and resources that make an actual company work. There is no time or effort put into increasing the employee's knowledge about the systems and sometimes simple fixes that had to be escalated would take days or weeks to get resolved. Just an overall terrible experience and I don't recommend working for this company unless you have no other choices. There is no room for advancement and even if you do move up you are still under appreciated, under paid and overworked. There is no positive culture and the overall feeling is that if you aren't at corporate or a GM or above you don't matter. No work/life balance, poor hiring practices (nepotism runs rampant), and no control over their upper management's egos makes even day to day working difficult. No bonuses or cost of living adjustments and compared to the positions that are similar at other companies the pay is well below the national average.

Pros

Good starting position, paid on time, and 401k match program.

Cons

Where do I start.... Intralot, you have to treat the front line folks better. I worked overtime several times, but was asked to go home early so "prevent paying overtime" come on that's like a kick in the pants. This is the main reason I quit - not getting paid the overtime. Bust my balls one day only to be told to go home the next. Also, there's zero incentive! We as technicians deserve a thank you once in awhile. Why should I bust my butt to do a job any faster? Other retarded aspect is vacation. Can't roll any vacation over, but yet management doesn't want techs taking vacation over the holidays. Or its a select few.

We certainly appreciate your candid feedback and take any concerns regarding pay, as well as paid time off and fair treatment of employees, seriously. With respect to overtime, unfortunately it is not guaranteed and is granted on an "as needed" basis specifically related to business need. Therefore, as you mentioned, it has the potential to change from one day to the next. Our management team has been tasked with providing as much advance notice as possible where scheduling is concerned. As for vacation, Intralot understands the need for all employees to have time away from work. Unlike overtime, paid time off is an incentive, but is also granted based upon demand and service agreements with our customers. With that being the case, if demanding projects prevent approval requests for time off, alternative options should be considered. This does require open, honest dialogue with management to ensure proper staffing levels across the organization. It is our desire to meet the needs of not only our customers, but employees and we will continue to look for ways to improve our ways of working in addition to fostering a positive work environment.

Pros

11 paid holidays, vacation, sick days. Paid on time. Company car, gas card, all expenses on vehicle are paid through LeasePlan. Will also pay storage fees.

Cons

The people you work with are selfish. Will expect help from you, but will not return the favor. Some technicians try to play the "I'm not healthy enough to do that" card to get out of their own job responsibilities. Micro-managed so much it can be off-putting. Downright spirit breaking. To the point you would almost want to declare bankruptcy and live under a bridge. Driving is graded on a scale of 0-100. Someone from corporate enforces it yet has zero experience in the field or on these roads day in and day out. Employees who do not carry their own weight are not punished. Work that cannot be completed will usually fall in the hands of those who can complete it, even though it is not your area. Impossible to do jobs at times because equipment/replacement equipment is not readily available. Outdated laptop. Outdated OS. Management is all about favorites. Everyone is punished rather than addressing the troublemakers individually. Expected to drive 1-2 hours to clean the warehouse because people are not held responsible for their own messes. Expected to answer phone whether you are on call or not. Management will let 11 out of the 13 technicians take vacation all once during holidays, leaving only one or two to be on call for the entire state. Those on call are expected to make 6-8 hour round trip drives and are shown little appreciation. If you ask management for a holiday off a year in advance even, they will still call you Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, whether you are 2-3 hours away from your work vehicle, expecting you to drop what you are doing and make the trip back just so you can clean up the mess they made because of their own incompetency and selfishness. Hostile work environment at times. More gossip than in a teenage girls bathroom in junior high. No opportunity to advance. Depressing pay for the amount of work constantly being added.
