Pros

Many knowledgeable people whom you can learn a lot from Nice atmosphere (used to be nicer though - was degrading fast when I left) In general high technical level / agile Small company radius / small communication overhead Degree of freedom in trying out new solutions Some managers are really striving to make your life easier Business trips (getting very rare and with no work/life balance when I left)

Cons

Not enough manpower for the workload Office politics Wages held low even when company at its best No career paths No serious advancement for people not in the "family" Management that has no idea about software (but they are running a software house) Stupid rules imposed by HR leading to resentment (like they're trying to drive all creative people out) No training

Pros

In my opinion Intralot is one of the top 3 IT companies in Greece right now. It is a multinational company, which is number 2 in the world in its field. Many companies in Greece, especially the small ones suffer from isolation, bad organization, and cruel management. Not in Intralot, you get all the things you would appreciate if you were in another company in Athens. Steady salary, benefits, insurance, standard procedures to follow according to security standards etc. Plus the opportunity to travel all around the world and meet amazing colleagues.

Cons

The company has lost its expansion rate, which is reflected in numerous projects. There is a constant wonder how will the company continue to thrive, when our rivals have won against us in major lottery contests around the world. No more new projects are coming as they used to. Most projects are in a "maintenance mode". Cut offs in expenses have also minimized traveling abroad and the salaries have frozen. There are no opportunities to grow or change career path inside the company. Practically you see people doing the same job as they did 10 years ago ( which is not necessarily bad, they have mastered it! ). Salaries are not very competitive sometimes not even for the greek market. Buildings do not reflect the status of the company. Lots of employees are packed in not so big offices.
